The eighth season of the Mika Ahola "Brave One" Trophy got off to a flying start! The MSC Dahlen offered not one, but two Champion Lubricants Enduro Tests which were typical of German Enduro with roots, ruts, and quagmires in the woods around the host city. Let’s take a look at who was fastest on these Enduro Tests, and who therefore scored the most points in the trophy created in honour of Mika AHOLA.
Two-time defending champion, Steve HOLCOMBE (GB - Beta) sent a clear message to his rivals: He is aiming for the hat trick! He won both days in the Trophy ahead of his compatriots, Danny MCCANNEY (GB - TM) and E1 World Champion Brad FREEMAN (GB - Beta Boano).
This result means it’s a Brit lock-out in the first three places in the standings of the "Brave One" Trophy.
Behind this trio it was Loïc LARRIEU (F - TM) who was next best (4/8), just in front his team-mate, the young Italian rider Andrea VERONA (7/5).
We must also give a shout out to Hamish MAC DONALD (NZ - Sherco), the only 125cc Youth Cup rider to score points in the Trophy during this opening round.
After becoming the only rider to win the Mika Ahola "Brave One" Trophy twice, can HOLCOMBE achieve the treble? That's the warning he sent to his competitors this weekend in Dahlen. But the new season has only just started and anything can happen in the Champion Lubricants Enduro Tests throughout the year, especially as it’s the test that requires a strong combination of technique, mental strength, and adaptability from the stars of the Maxxis FIM EnduroGP World Championship...
