Since the beginning of the season, Franco MAYR and his JET Racing team had promised us a surprise at the Grand Prix of Italy... and the accomplished manager (he ran HM Honda during Mika AHOLA’s reign) has kept us waiting until just a few days before the Italian GP before he told us: Mike BROWN (USA) will ride against EnduroGP’s elite this weekend in Spoleto!
“I have followed EnduroGP for many years…” told BROWN “… and I promised myself that I would ride in at least one GP!”
“Having met Franco (MAYR) and JET Racing this winter during SuperEnduro this opportunity became available to me. I hope now that I can ride well against the new wave of talent like PHILLIPS, HOLCOMBE and LARRIEU…”
The experienced BROWN (45 years old) is well known in the off-road sphere. He is a former MX frontrunner with two third places in the 125cc World Championship (1999, 2000) and a US Champion title in 2001, the rider from Tennessee then moved to Endurocross in 2009. That same year, he also became WORCS American Champion...
Having quickly become one of the star riders in the Endurocross discipline (he was Vice-Champion in 2011 and 2013, and 3rd in 2015 ...), he then enjoyed many seasons as a main rival of Taddy BLAZUSIAK (PL-KTM) as the Pole snatched six Endurocross titles in a row.
In 2017, the US legend participated for the first time in the SuperEnduro World Championship where he finished in an honorable 7th position. He also made an appearance in Enduro at the second round of the Italian Championship in Sicily...
For his first EnduroGP, "Brownie" will be line up with a Husqvarna 300TE and will team up with Matteo BRESOLIN (I) and the young Chilean star Ruy BARBOSA... In view of his record and his reputation, his interest in the Maxxis FIM EnduroGP World Championship proves the value and prestige of the series across the globe!
