After the exciting announcement about the arrival of ex-motocrosser Christophe CHARLIER (F) into the Rockstar Energy Husqvarna Factory Racing team, it is now time to welcome sand racing specialist Camille CHAPELIERE (F) who has decided to try the EnduroGP adventure!
CHAPELIERE, who is only 22 years old, already has an impressive track record which speaks volumes about his talent. Indeed, after placing runner-up in the French Sand Racing Championship and an excellent third place at Red Bull Knock Out in 2015, he went on to win the French Sand Racing crown in 2016. He has also been a regular front-runner at the legendary Le Touquet Enduropale beach race, where he finished 3rd in 2016.
Having gained some experience in the French Enduro Championship and in the AMV Trefle Lozérien in 2016, the French rider knows a little bit about the discipline and he will line up in the Junior category with a Yamaha from Romain DUMONTIER’s team. He will face the top contenders; Davide SORECA (I - HONDA), Mikael PERSSON (S - Yamaha) and current leader Eemil POHJOLA (SF – Husqvarna)!
Well known to the EnduroGP paddock, CHAPELIERE’s manager Romain DUMONTIER, for his part, should line up in Enduro 2 this season.
Although the two French riders missed the EnduroGP season opener in Finland, we will see them at the AMV Seguros Grand Prix of Spain which will take place in Puerto Lumbreras on 21, 22 and 23 April!
With this latest addition to the series, there are now three new names joining EnduroGP this year with CHAPELIERE, CHARLIER and the Australian SANDERS (AUS – KTM). Although two of three have already been racing in Finland, CamChap (as he is known by fans) will not be far behind and he could well make a name for himself in the Junior category! These new arrivals show, once again, that there is a lot of interest in the discipline, which is growing and allowing for a wide variety of racers from different backgrounds to join the ranks.
